Arizona State routs Washington in opener of 2-game set

After a frustrating collapse in its previous game, Arizona State had no problems closing out a 97-64 rout of Washington on Tuesday night in Tempe, Ariz.The senior trio of Remy Martin, Kimani Lawrence and Alonzo Verge Jr. once again paced the Sun Devils (8-11, 5-8 Pac-12), who snapped a two-game skid and produced their highest point total of the season in a conference game.Martin totaled 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting and recorded his sixth consecutive game of 20 or more points. He also had six assists and four rebounds.Lawrence notched his first career double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds and shot an efficient 9-for-11 from the field.Verge totaled 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go along with seven assists and six rebounds.Three days after leading for all but the final 1.4 seconds in a one-point loss to UCLA, the Sun Devils used a 38-6 run over a span of 12:50 midway through the Tuesday game to open up a 68-31 lead.The Sun Devils totaled 12 steals, which led to several fastbreak opportunities during their huge run.
