Lou Holtz, 83, tests positive for COVID-19

Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz is getting over COVID-19 after testing positive, he said Thursday.Holtz, 83, told ABC Columbia (S.C.), “I don’t have a lot of energy right now.”Holtz is best known for his 11-year stint as head coach at Notre Dame, which he led to its most recent national championship in 1988 with a 12-0 record and a win in the Fiesta Bowl. The Fighting Irish went 100-30-2 under Holtz, posting a winning record in all but his first season, 1986.Before leading Notre Dame, Holtz was the head coach at William & Mary from 1969-71, North Carolina State from 1972-75, Arkansas from 1977-83 and Minnesota from 1984-55.Holtz also had a brief run as head coach of the NFL’s New York Jets, producing a 3-10 record in 1976.
